Goodreads

Too often, I pick up a book and get as far as 75% of the way through it before realizing that I have read it before.  So I decided to start keeping track of the books I've read.  Some people have suggested Goodreads as a nice way to keep track of leisure reading -- you can queue books you're planning to read (right now my Amazon cart fulfills this function for me), list books you have read, and read and write reviews on books.  I already have an account -- maybe it's time to start using it.

  1. I thought about signing up for Goodreads a while back, but was too lazy. I'm using the Kindle to track most of what I read. (But I'm having trouble with attaching my Kindle to the new account.)

  2. If you sign up for Goodreads, we can be Goodreads Friends! Right now I am friendless.

Why are you having trouble registering your Kindle to the new account?

  3. I don't know. My Kindle didn't update automatically, and when I try to deregister it manually I keep getting an error message. I'll play around with it some more.

  4. Are you using WiFi? I had some trouble downloading library books on mine a while back, and it turned out it was because I was using 3G instead of WiFi. Apparently there are some services you can't access with 3G -- maybe deregistration is one of them.
