This seems unlikely ever to be a staple of the CM/JW household, but for the record, I tried it recently and liked it a lot! Especially with a hearty sprinkle of nutmeg. I wonder if something similar could be done with avocado and maybe some honey.
I've been meaning to try that for K. I have a feeling avocados wouldn't work quite as well by themselves -- more fat, less starch, so I think the texture would be a little off -- but someone in the comments mentioned they blended a frozen banana with a fresh avocado and that was good.
I thought maybe the fat content of the avocado might mimic the fat content of ice cream more. But yeah, no idea how that would actually work out. Maybe this could also be done with sweet potatoes? (But somehow, that doesn't sound appetizing.)
If you make the banana kind, be warned that it turns pretty solid if you store it in the freezer. Next time I would do it in a popsicle mold -- after freezing, it's just the right texture for a nice fruit pop.
