The End.

Today's big news is this: we Beat Minecraft last night.  This consisted of going to an alternate dimension called The End and killing the Ender Dragon.  We did it up proper -- collected supplies for days, and made a well-equipped End Headquarters with a conference table where we discussed strategy.  Here is a group shot from right before the battle:

That's me on the bottom left, staring off into space.  My sister and brother are the first and second from the right, respectively.  And one might see one's husband grinning from the upper left.

The battle itself was like an extremely blocky fantasy movie.  It felt pretty surreal being in this weird place surrounded by enemies, shooting arrows at a dragon, seeing your comrades in the distance doing the same thing, watching their panic-stricken deaths (and their returns to the fray a minute or two later).  And then the collective text shout of joy when the dragon imploded.  Most epic Minecraft night ever.

  1. I didn't know that was possible.
Does that mean it's actually over?
    Who are the other people?

  2. "Beating" Minecrafting is just an extra feature the game maker added to shush the people who said it was no fun playing a game with no resolution. Slaying the dragon takes you to a long credit sequence, and then back to the game as usual. So no, not any more over than it ever was. Although EVERYTHING AFTER THIS WILL FEEL ANTICLIMACTIC.

The other people are some of Brother Trouser's friends -- also regulars on our server.
